The recon car industry is not immune to this issue, with some buyers falling victim to scams that result in losses of tens of thousands of ringgit. Today’s article aims to provide steps you can take to avoid becoming a victim when buying a recon car.

- Check the seller’s background – Ensure that the seller is legitimate and exists. Ask for the seller’s business card for additional verification.
- Meet and inspect the vehicle in person – If the seller offers the car model you’re interested in, verify that the car is physically present in the showroom. Bring along a knowledgeable friend to avoid being scammed.
- Verify the bank account before making payment – Do not make payments to a personal or unrelated account. For example, if the business is named “ABC ReconCar World,” ensure the bank account name matches and isn’t something unrelated like “WalmartCatering.”
